History

MaCapella is a dynamic a cappella vocal group that was formed in 2015 by Tara Flinn. What began as a small gathering of three individuals singing together in a hall quickly blossomed into a thriving community, now boasting over 50 members across three locations: Bendigo, Castlemaine, and Kyneton.

The advantages of singing are well-established. Physically, it improves oxygen flow, strengthens muscles, and can enhance immunity. Mentally, it releases endorphins, reduces stress, and boosts cognitive function. Singing in a group creates a sense of belonging and well-being, providing countless benefits for all involved! Originally formed as a choir to provide an outlet for mothers in the early years of parenting, MaCapella has grown to embrace participants of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a rich and inclusive community. You might even spot little ones peeking out from behind their mothers or joining in with the lyrics!

The group has gained recognition for its energetic performances, including sold-out shows at Castlemaine's Theatre Royal and several appearances as the resident choir for ARIA-nominated artist Mama Kin Spender. MaCapella has also made a significant impact at various festivals, markets, and fetes, delighting audiences with their distinctive vocal arrangements and infectious enthusiasm.
